Chicago Peace Fest

June 19-21, 2009
(The Weekend of the Summer Solstice)
Friday, Saturday, & Sunday
Noon - 9:00PM

@ Lincoln Park
(Just south of the zoo)
1700 N. Stockton
Chicago, Illinois

The Chicago Peace Fest offers a safe, peaceful, comfortable and welcoming space where people can come together as a community of friends and neighbors in order to share the sensational experience of lively music, fine art, entertainment, and wholesome fun created for the purpose of reviving life forces and awakening latent energies while also inspiring, motivating, and empowering people and groups to participate in a radically progressive social movement.

The festival will feature a wide variety of local music and performing artists displaying the richness of the city's cultural diversity. The environment is sure to be laden with interactive exhibits and decorated with sensational aesthetic creations. There will be fresh food, water, and juice offered to make sure that everyone has all the energy they need for three whole days of entertainment. The scene will be set in our beautiful city park by the lakefront in a welcoming and exciting atmosphere where people can feel at ease, relax, and have the chance to enjoy a memorable life experience amongst friends. Within this setting we plan to use the opportunity to educate people on a full spectrum of local initiatives, encourage progressive social activism, and also to facilitate the event in order to help bridge community networks.

The ultimate mission is to bring people together in the spirit of peace and unity to promote a progressive social movement and focus upon working as one organized community to solve common problems and initiate holistic social reform.

We want to bring together people from all walks of life and include all local communities, social change organizations, unions, political parties, religions, nationalities, ethnic groups, and cultures. This event offers a social networking opportunity where for three days people will have ample time to meet and really get to know many of the distinguished local activists diligently working on a variety of social issues that affect us all.

The Chicago Peace Fest is also geared toward empowering participants of the event with radical alternatives, progressive ideas, powerful information, positive direction, encouragement, and also a team of kindhearted, wise, and skillful friends who share the same vision of promoting sustainable peace and who are willing to work together cooperatively to resolve conflicts, help advance mutual goals, and support a common cause.

We are looking to join forces with local activists and organizations who want to help co-create this vision and produce a sensational experience for the people of Chicagoland. If your organization would like to be involved we warmly invite you to participate.

Here are some ways for organizations to contribute:

1. Set up a tent or table- Promote the organization you are involved with, hand out literature or DVD’s, get people to sign petitions, and speak out to inform the public about an important issue.

2. Help promote the Event- Bring out all of your friends and family. Tell your neighbors, classmates, and coworkers. Send out emails to your contact list. Pick up some fliers and hand them out in public. Display posters around your community. Reach out to other people and groups and invite them to attend the fest.

3. Make a donation- The Chicago Peace Fest is an entirely FREE event! There is absolutely no obligation to pay any fee to be involved. Although, if you would like to make a financial contribution to help cover the expenses a suggested donation of $25 would be greatly appreciated. (Checks can be made payable to: Rock Steady Staging – 6313 Roosevelt Rd, Berwyn Illinois 60402)
